One-stop Chop

True nai nai cooking style means using the butcher knife for everything, from slicing celery to whacking a beef bone in half. According to grandma, there is no task too small for the most intimidating if all chopping devices.

It’s a bit disarming to see this tiny old woman wielding a huge butcher knife around the kitchen but it’s a sight I’ve gotten used to and embraced. The first time I saw her dainty fingers slicing garlic with this monstrosity of a blade, my anxiety kicked into overdrive.Now I only mildly freak out when she finishes her prep by tossing the knife onto the counter.
